  Wildlife Safari and Mount Kilimanjaro Climb
  DURATION: 15 days/14 night’s safari – Tarangire / Manyara / Serengeti / Ngorongoro and Mount Kilimanjaro
   
 

This is a comprehensive safari package that combines safari to the famous game parks and climbing the highest mountain in Africa – the majestic snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 1. Arrival and overnight Impala Hotel B/B

Day 2. After breakfast drive to Tarangire National Park which is one of the most scenic national parks in Tanzania with its huge baobab trees some of which are over 500,000 years old. The park in recent times has witnessed tree climbing lions and is well known for its large migratory herds of elephants. The park is 650,000 acres making it the third largest park in Tanzania. Lunch break inside the park and later game viewing en-route to Mto wa Mbu. Dinner and Overnight at Migungani Lodge.

Day 3. With your packed lunch boxes drive to Lake Manyara National Park. This park is on the western edge of the Great Rift Valley. Although the park is small, it offers a surprisingly diverse habitat and wildlife. The entrance to the park is a rainforest fed by underground springs and home to baboons, Monitors, Pythons and a large variety of birds. The heart of the park is the large soda lake where Flamingoes, WaterFowl and Hippos are seen. The most stunning aspect of this particular park is "LION ON THE TREES". This is an unpredictable view, only lucky ones witness the show. Dinner and Overnight Migungani Lodge.

Day 4. After breakfast, you will depart for Serengeti National Park. Your first sight of this endless plain is bound to impress you. Afternoon at leisure and a sundowner game viewing of Serengeti National Park. Dinner and Overnight Serengeti Camp Site.

Day 5. With your packed lunch boxes, you will enjoy a full day game viewing of the Mighty Serengeti, driving along Grumeti River and have an opportunity to view resident herds of Wildebeest, Zebras and multitude of Gazelles and Crocodiles. All major predators can be seen following the herds. Dinner and Overnight Serengeti Camp Site.

Day 6. After breakfast, with your packed lunch boxes descending to the foot of the Ngorongoro highlands, we pause at Oldvuai Gorge one of the worlds greatest archaeological sites, where Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey discovered in 1959 the 1.75 million-year old remains of the Zinjanthropus and in 1979 the earliest known footprints of man. Dinner and Overnight at Ngorongoro Simba Camp Site.

Day 7. With your packed lunch boxes descend 2000ft into Africa’s Garden of Eden - The Ngorongoro Crater for a full day game viewing. This is a spectacular nature sanctuary and diverse terrain of its 102 square miles basin support year round population of over 30,000 animals and over 350 species of birds. Lunch break inside the crater and later game viewing en-route to Arusha. Dinner and Overnight in Hotel.

Day 8. Leisure in Arusha and briefing on Mt. Kilimanjaro climb. Dinner and Overnight Impala Hotel.

Day 9. Drive to Marangu gate on Mount Kilimanjaro at an altitude of 1800m and start our climb through the Rainy Forest to Mandara Hut. Altitude 2700m. Duration 3 - 4hrs.

Day 10. Leave the forest and cross open moorland onto alpine meadow. Normally, if the climate is good, then you would have a splendid view of the peak and the vegetation down below. Horombo Hut is reached in 6 - 7hrs. Altitude 3720m - 16kms.

Day 11. Acclimatize in Horombo.

Day 12. You continue to Kibo Hut 6 - 7hrs. Altitude 4703m.

Day 13. In the wee hrs of the morning you start for the summit, the most demanding portion of the climb, to Gilman's Point 5681m. It will take you 5 - 6hrs. From here sheer determination and will power will take you to Uhuru Peak 5895m in 2hrs to the highest point in Africa and after a short rest descend to Kibo Hut for tea/soup/biscuits and then down to Horombo overnight.

Day 14. After breakfast, you should by this time feel lighter as you descend to Marangu and after your snacks drive to Arusha. Dinner and Overnight Impala Hotel.

Day 15. Departure. END OF SAFARI
